A temporary crane is erected on Spruce Street on July 28, 2001. This temporary crane (in white) begins the dismantling of The Kimmel Center's tower crane by removing the boom, or the swing arm as shown here.

After removing the tower crane's cab, the street crane lifts out the massive engine before beginning to dismantle the more than 200 feet of tower below.

A worker unhooks the connection between the temporary street crane and the main section of The Kimmel Center's tower crane after lifting it out of the building and onto Spruce Street.

The main section of tower, measuring approximately 40 feet, is lowered onto Spruce Street by the temporary street crane, and will soon be loaded onto a flatbed truck to be hauled away.

The tower crane has been fully removed, all glass on the roof has been installed and trees have been planted in the Rooftop Garden. August 27, 2001.
