Operations Support 

                                    

Department:                 Operations - Campus Experience

Reports to:                    Operations Support Manager

 

Summary:

The Operations Support team is an integral part of the daily operations and functions of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center Inc. (POKC), which is comprised of 4 buildings housing multiple performance, office, and ancillary spaces. The Ops Support team provides operational support by setting up all equipment and furniture in the front-of-house spaces and is responsible for maintaining inventory, moving equipment, furniture, boxes, and miscellaneous articles of various types within the buildings and throughout the Campus.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Set and strike all front-of-house event setups in the public spaces, special event spaces, and meeting rooms according to floorplans and request forms. These setups include tables, linens, chairs, poster cases, coat racks, stanchions, stages, etc.
  • Drop and pick up POKC owned equipment for catering department events.
  • Set, remove, and store building furniture when needed.
  • Conduct daily facility walk-through to ensure all equipment is in its appropriate place and all furniture is set according to the floorplan.
  • Move and relocate office furniture, boxes, public area furniture and other equipment.
  • Inspect, clean, care for, and, in some cases, assemble or repair furniture or other equipment.
  • Track and maintain inventory of department issued equipment, furniture, tables, chairs,
  • poster cases, etc.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain an orderly appearance in storage and common-use areas.
  • Responsible for appearance and cleanliness of equipment, including laundering linens and chair covers.
  • Trash/recycle old, printed materials and equipment.
  • Receive and sign for equipment deliveries.
  • Maintain awareness of building schedules.
  • Assist with planning/logistics of future event setups.
  • Maintain open communication with Campus Experience staff and other Ops Support team members during shift.
  • Collaborate with I.A.T.S.E. stagehands, catering staff, and internal department event staff regarding event setups and use of shared space and equipment.
  • On occasion, meet with clients to discuss last-minute needs.
  • Transport client equipment and paraphernalia within the building(s).
  • Transport and stock marketing materials including brochures, programs, and inserts.
  • Deliver large or bulk mail items from administrative offices to other buildings in the campus.
  • Hang large posters (3 sheets) in exterior cases using a ladder.
  • Attending required employee staff development meetings/programs/trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous event setup experience

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all personality types.
  • Ability to maintain a cooperative spirit when working with peers, supervisors, clients, and guests.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions independently.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints.
  • Willingness to perform any other job-related functions.

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform light physical tasks exerting up to 60lbs of force on a frequent basis and up to 150lbs on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to perform such activities as grasping, lifting, reaching, crouching, walking, climbing, sitting and carrying repetitively and for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, mornings, and nights.
  • Must wear closed toe-shoes, Kimmel issued uniform, belted pants, and proper Kimmel issued identification.
