Summary:

The Accounting Coordinator plays a vital role in the Finance department of The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center Inc., a newly consolidated entity which includes the Philadelphia Orchestra, Kimmel Center Inc, and the Academy of Music. This position will contribute to the efficient and effective workings of the Finance department by executing daily tasks with a strong attention to detail.

This role will contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization and will be responsible for creating a cooperative and inclusive environment and enabling the Finance team to provide a high level of competence and internal customer service.

The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the accounts payable function and assisting in the monthly close process and other Finance department duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily analysis and input of accounts payable information, including vendor and general ledger account coding.
  • Interaction with and co-ownership of the integrated workflow software used for invoice entry and approvals (PaperSave), including staff trainings, troubleshooting, and enhancements.
  • Initiate weekly accounts payable payments via checks, wires, and ACH batches.
  • Maintain hard copy and electronic filing system
  • Assist in year-end tax preparation
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and various other reconciliations
  • Work closely with other members of Finance staff to ensure accuracy in monthly reporting
  • Assist in retrieval of documents for annual financial audit
  • Monthly report distribution to budget managers
  • Process various check requests including medical benefit invoices
  • Work with departments and vendors for timely resolution of billing and payment issues 
  • Ad hoc accounting reporting requests
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

Associates or bachelor’s degree in accounting require, with a minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong MS Office skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to interact with various levels of staff in all departments, working towards problem resolution.
  • Self-motivated and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and respond to changing priorities with flexibility.
  • Quick learner with exceptional organizational skills.

Routine for office environment.
