Assistant Head Electrician, Kimmel Center, Kimmel Cultural Campus

The Kimmel Cultural Campus is seeking qualitied personnel for the following stagehand position, Assistant Head Electrician.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all in house lighting and video equipment in Kimmel Center building
  • Help supervise and lead extra IATSE employees for calls in Kimmel Center building
  • Assist with load-in, setup, rehearsal, performance, and load out of presentations in Kimmel Center building
  • Work within all theatrical disciplines and attend to wide range of duties as assigned
  • Maintain and monitor electrical materials, equipment and supplies as required for production support
  • Assist with ensuring that all tenant installations conform to applicable fire and safety regulations, especially as regards the maintenance of fire lanes, and clear access to fire exits and emergency supplies

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Substantial experience with a variety of musical and staged attractions in one or more active, large scale metropolitan venues
  • Demonstrable experience with operation and programing of ETC and Strand lighting equipment, reviewing, interpreting, and executing theatrical lighting design paperwork, as well as troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and networking systems
  • Significant experience in hanging, focusing, and programming of conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures.  Knowledge of DMX signal flow and standard theatrical software
  • Working knowledge of video projection, computer networks and modern stage technology and procedures
  • Position requires the ability to work as a member of a team, supporting each other, to accomplish goals and ability to anticipate potential problems and provide solutions
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of persons both within department and without
  • Ability to attend to numerous projects concurrently; the ability to respond positively, effectively, and quickly to continually shifting priorities and needs

 

Environment, physical demands and other conditions

  • Ability to assist in the movement and placement of theatrical objects, including prolonged durations of standing as well as pushing, pulling, and lifting items greater than 50lbs
  • Position will require work at heights, on ladders & lifts, indoors, outdoors, and in intermittently noisy spaces
  • Work schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
