DRUMLINE LIVE’S WORLD TOUR BRINGS BRAND NEW PRODUCTION TO THE MERRIAM THEATER, MARCH 9–10, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, January 24, 2017) — The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is thrilled to welcome the return of DRUMLine Live, the show-stopping live event created by the musical team behind hit movies, Drumline and Drumline: A New Beat. DRUMLine Live embodies the soulful, high-stepping style of the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) marching band experience with riveting rhythms, bold beats, and explosive energy, all set to classic music and top 40 hits. This brand-new show, part of the Kimmel Center’s Family Discovery Series, will play the Merriam Theater March 9 and 10, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.

DRUMLine Live is a high-energy party from start to finish that not only showcases the tremendous discipline and talent of these performers, but a musical tradition that has been in existence for generations,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “The cast will bring the energy of a full Super Bowl halftime show into our theater and we can’t wait to watch audiences tapping right along with these contagious beats!”

DRUMLine Live is an international tour with content based on HBCU marching band tradition. The stage show is a synchronized musical showcase of the HBCU experience incorporating original compositions and soul-infused interpretations of today’s top songs. The performances range from colorful, choreographed routines to heavy doses of intricate drum riffs and cadences.

Other upcoming performances on the Kimmel Center Campus include Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (February 3–4, 2017, Merriam Theater), iLuminate (February 10–11, 2017, Merriam Theater), Balé Folclórico da Bahía (February 17, 2017, Merriam Theater), and PHILADANCO (April 13–15, 2017, Perelman Theater).
