“One of the world’s most elite music academies” (BBC Culture), the Curtis Institute of Music brings the dynamic energy of the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, the lyrical beauty of the Curtis Opera Theatre, and the unparalleled artistry of alumni and faculty on the Curtis Presents series to the Kimmel Center. Named a Resident Company of the Kimmel Cultural Campus in April 2015, Curtis offers performances by extraordinary young musicians from all corners of the world who embody the school’s 90-year tradition of excellence. Building off of innovative collaborations with the Kimmel, like the recent performances in the SEI Innovation Studio of Terry Riley’s In C and Stravinsky’s A Soldier’s Tale, these world-class stages allow Curtis students to ‘learn by doing’ in the best possible way, in venues that optimally showcase their artistry.
“We feel very fortunate to embark on the next step in our long-time relationship with the Curtis Institute of Music, one of the world’s leading conservatories,” said the Kimmel Cultural Campus' President and CEO Anne Ewers. “Its exceptionally gifted musicians have been performing on our campus since the Center first opened, and now we are honored to embrace the school as a Resident Company.”
