This holiday season, Kimmel Center’s Cultural Campus will be host to all kinds of fun festivities! With a list of free and ticketed events, finding your holiday cheer and gathering with friends old and dear has never been easier.
What do tubas, sousaphones, and euphoniums all have in common? They will all be represented at Tuba Christmas, a community event where over a hundred different players will be blasting out holiday favorites. The best parts? Not only is it FREE, but it also happens TWICE in one day! So there’s no excuse not to go see this tubetacular show on December 17!
The Pulitzer Prize-winning story, The Color Purple is running now through December 17 as part of our Broadway Philadelphia season. A tale of a young woman’s journey for love and triumph in the South is told with an accompanying score filled with gospel, ragtime, and blues. Come and experience this soulful American classic.
Closing out December is another Broadway Philadelphia musical, STOMP – described as explosive, inventive, provocative, witty, and utterly unique. It’s an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages. This international percussion sensation has garnered armfuls of awards and rave reviews.
The fun doesn’t stop on December 31! Our free New Year’s Day Celebration also returns for its 12th consecutive year! Running from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., the Kimmel Center will be ringing in the New Year ALL DAY with activities, performances, and fun for the whole family. PLUS, we’re also a great place to warm up (with FREE hot chocolate) and catch a bird’s eye view of the iconic Mummers Parade.
