RAIN: A Tribute to The Beatles

Today’s Staff Pick is by Angela, Graphic Designer

I’ve seen RAIN: The Beatles Experience three times and would happily go see it twenty more times. Why? Because I love The Beatles.

I grew up listening to The Fab Four with my father. Long car rides were always filled with songs from all of their albums from Sgt. Pepper to Abbey Road. We bonded over lyrics and talked about their history and influence on music. I wanted to know everything and anything about them. I watched every movie or documentary that I could find and knew every word to every song. When my friends were listening to Britney Spears, I was walking around with The White Album on my Discman listening to “Blackbird” on repeat. I was entranced with their music and still am.

I may have been born too late to see The Beatles live, but in 2007 I was able to see the next best thing. I took my father to see RAIN for the first time and was immediately hooked. The show was so much fun, I couldn’t stop talking about it for days. My father still hasn’t stopped talking about it. We were amazed at how spot on the music was and how authentic the musicians looked. They performed some of the most intricate songs The Beatles ever recorded and did them flawlessly. The use of 60s television ads and clips mixed with the transformation of The Beatles’ look and sound made me feel like I was being transported back in time to Beatlemania. The experience was amazing for me, the little girl who grew up idolizing her father’s favorite band. I went in not sure what to expect and left being a diehard fan that urges everyone I know to go see the show.

If you love The Beatles like I do, go see RAIN. I’m pretty sure you’ll be singing their classic tunes for weeks and be raving to every Beatles’ fan you know. Hope to see you there!
