Classically trained string instrumentalists, Wil Baptiste (Viola) and Kev Marcus (Violin), return after a widely successful engagement at the Merriam last October. With influences from Shostakovitch and Bach to your favorite hip hop artists, Black Violin breaks all the rules, fusing classical with modern hip-hop, rock, R&B and Bluegrass music. Their collaboration and dynamic performance style has earned them support spots on tours for Wu-Tang Clan, Aerosmith, and Kanye West, among others.
The band uses their unique blend of classical and hip-hop music to overcome stereotypes while encouraging people all ages, races, and economic backgrounds to join together and break down cultural barriers.
