FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, December 17, 2018) – Experience American Girl® in an all-new musical, coming to the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater for eight enchanting performances, February 14 – 17, 2019. American Girl Live features all-original songs and unforgettable experiences with everyone’s favorite, iconic American Girl characters. Audiences are encouraged to bring their own American Girl dolls as they enjoy this brand new show as the American Girls meet new friends and embark on an exciting summer at sleepover camp. As bold tales of bravery and friendship come to life, iconic American Girl characters lend a hand through story and song. Join the campers as they follow their hearts, share their dreams, and learn the power of friendship.
“We are delighted to welcome this adorable production to the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus as a part of our growing Family Discovery Series,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “This show not only brings to life multiple generations’-worth of beloved characters, but introduces our littlest audience members to the magic of the arts. The memory-making starts with dolls and books and now comes alive with a full cast at the Kimmel Center!”
American Girl Live is a creative collaboration between American Girl and Mills Entertainment. The original production is currently in development by producer Simone Gianfrancesco (Lifetime’s Bring It! Live, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Live, John Cleese and Eric Idle Live), with Sandy Rustin (The Cottage, Clue Live, Rated P…For Parenthood) as writer, and Gina Rattan (Matilda, Billy Elliot, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella) attached to direct.
American Girl Live is part of the Kimmel Center’s Family Discovery Series.
