FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, October 9, 2019) – With the success of his wildly popular podcast, the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus, in association with The Bowery Presents, is thrilled to present hilarious, Emmy®-winning writer and comedian Scott Aukerman for Comedy Bang! Bang! Live! at the Merriam Theater on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. This special live performance features Aukerman and very special guests doing a totally improvised program, with plenty of character drop-ins.

 

Comedy Bang! Bang! has become a comedic institution in the ten years since it’s podcast inception, spawning a television show and now a live tour,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Known for his quirky characters and improvisational dexterity, host Scott Aukerman’s hysterical antics join a growing list of comedy offerings this season on our Kimmel Center Cultural Campus, from Dena Blizzard, to fellow podcasters Marc Maron and The McElroy Brothers.”

 

Scott Aukerman got his start as a writer and performer on the HBO cult classic sketch series Mr. Show with Bob and David. Since 2009, he has hosted the podcast Comedy Bang! Bang!, which has been downloaded over fifty million times and was turned into a television show on the IFC network. Many notable people – including Weird Al Yankovic, Jon Hamm, Aziz Ansari, Adam Scott, Seth Rogen, Ben Stiller, and Amy Poehler – have appeared on the podcast.

 

He is the co-creator and director of the acclaimed Funny or Die web series Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. The show has featured interviews with dozens of A-list stars.In 2014, the episode with President Barack Obama amassed millions of views in the first 24 hours. The episode won the 2014 Emmy® Award for Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program. In 2015, Aukerman and the show received the honor a second time for the episode with Brad Pitt.

 

His other credits include co-writer and co-director of Michael Bolton's Big Sexy Valentine's Day Special, and consulting producer on the series Sick Note, both streaming on Netflix.
