KIMMEL CULTURAL CAMPUS, IN ASSOCIATION WITH AEG, PRESENTS

YOUTUBE AND COMEDY SENSATION

DANIEL HOWELL: WE'RE ALL DOOMED!

OCTOBER 20, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (September 19, 2022)–The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in association with AEG Presents, welcomes English author, YouTuber, and comedic genius, Daniel Howell, in his new solo show We’re All Doomed at the Campus’ Miller Theater (formerly the Merriam Theater) on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 7:30 p.m.

When there’s so many apocalyptic scenarios threatening to destroy us, it might be tempting to give into the gloom – but with enough sarcasm, satire, and a desire to skewer everything that’s wrong with society, Dan Howell’s We’re All Doomed! is determined to find some hope for humanity… or at least laugh like it’s the end of the world (because it probably is). Prepare for a night of savage self-deprecation, soul-searching, Howell over-sharing his deepest fears and desires, and become part of a community of doomers to share the final days.

“Daniel Howell is known for his savage, self-deprecating, and sarcastic humor – using his relatable voice to show us it’s ok to laugh, even in the worst of times,” said Frances Egler, Senior Director of Programming and Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “Philadelphia loves to laugh, and Howell joins a season full of popular comedians – from Zakir Khan to Amanda Seales, Whitney Cummings to Jonathan Van Ness, Randy Rainbow to Heather McDonald.”

From bestselling books, an award-winning show on BBC Radio 1, and billions of views on his celebrated online content to sellout world tours performing high-concept comedy to over 500,000 people in 18 countries, Howell’s dedicated audience relate to his outlook on life and follow anywhere he goes. He gained prominence through his YouTube channels Daniel Howell (formerly known as danisnotonfire) and DanAndPhilGAMES with Phil Lester.

In 2015, Lester and Howell announced that they had co-written a book titled The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire. The book topped the General Hardbacks Sunday Times Bestsellers list having sold 26,745 copies in the UK in the first week of its release. It also became a #1 New York Times Bestseller in the young adult hardcover list. Their theatrical stage show The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire traveled around the UK, ending with a show at the London Palladium. During the tour, they sang the original song “The Internet is Here”, which they later released as a charity single for Stand Up To Cancer, earning them a gold record disc for the sales of the song.

In October 2017, Howell posted a video, Daniel and Depression, in which he revealed that he had suffered from clinical depression. Howell uploaded the video one day after World Mental Health Day, in which he and Lester supported #HelloYellow, a mental health campaign by UK-based YoungMinds, prompting the organization to name Howell their newest ambassador. Howell has shared serious struggles with his sexuality and mental health that have culminated in his recent special Gay and Not Proud and #1 Bestselling book You Will Get Through This Night, a no-nonsense guide to looking after your sanity.

Other featured upcoming performances on the Kimmel Cultural Campus include Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets: The Echoes Tour (September 23, 2022, Miller Theater); Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson: An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies – II (September 23, 2022, Verizon Hall); Zakir Khan Live (September 25, 2022, Perelman Theater); Wheel of Fortune Live!
