FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (April 25, 2022) –The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in association with NJPAC Productions, is thrilled to present comedy sensation Earthquake as he hosts his annual Father’s Day Comedy Show at the Campus’ Academy of Music on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. He will be joined by Bill Bellamy, Tommy Davidson, Tony Roberts, and Tu Rae.

 

The former host of Quake’s House on WBLS-FM and star of the hit specials About Got Damn Time and These Ain’t Jokes, Earthquake has gained a loyal following with appearances on HBO, BET, and Comedy Central, along with roles in Getting Played, Clerks II, and Everybody Hates Chris. Most recently, Earthquake was selected by Dave Chapelle to star in Chapelle's Home Team Earthquake: Legendary on Netflix.

 

“Fans fell in love with ‘Quake’ through his array of comedy specials, live stand-up programming, and radio shows,” said Frances Egler, Senior Director of Programming and Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “Give the gift of laughter this year and celebrate Father’s Day with this lineup of acclaimed comedy voices, grouped together by Quake, the ‘comedian’s favorite comedian’.”

 

About the artists:

 

Bill Bellamy coined the phrase “booty call” and has appeared in countless TV shows and movies including Def Comedy Jam, Who’s Got Jokes?, Last Coming Standing, Any Given Sunday, and Issa Rae’s Insecure. Bellamy recently finished shooting a role in Chris Spencer’s Back on the Strip, opposite Tiffany Haddish, J.B. Smoove, and Wesley Snipes, and was recently seen as the lead in the BET+ film A Rich Christmas. His most recent comedy special, produced by Tribeca and Comedy Dynamics, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. 

 

Best known from the hit show In Living Color, Tommy Davidson’s notable TV and film performances include The Proud Family, Bamboozled, Juwanna Mann, Ace Ventura II, and the documentaries I Am Comic and Dying Laughing. Most recently, Davidson has reprised his role as Oscar Proud in the revival of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, which is now streaming on Disney+.

 

Tony Roberts has appeared on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, Showtime at the Apollo, BET’s Comicview, and The Shaquille O’Neal Allstar Comedy Jam. In addition to headlining around the country, he’s part of KBLX Radio’s Morning Dream Team.

 

Beginning at Philadelphia’s famed Laff House Comedy Club, Tu Rae is an accomplished comedian & writer. Tu Rae can be seen on HBO’s All Def Comedy, along with Comics Unleashed, Gotham Live, First Amendment Standup, and Laughs TV. He was a Stand Up NBC Finalist and HBO’s Comedy Wings Champion. Currently, Tu Rae is the lead instructor of Philadelphia Comedy College.

We will always put the safety of our guests, artists, and staff first, and we have worked closely with partners, producers, artists, guests and other performing arts centers around the nation to develop the most comprehensive plan to safely reopen our doors. We are committing to a healthy and clean environment with increased disinfection, enhanced ventilation, and will enforce recommended health authority guidelines, including masks and proof of vaccination.  

  

Masks are required to be worn at all times when on the Kimmel Cultural Campus, except when actively consuming food or beverage in designated locations. Prolonged periods of mask removal are not permitted.  

  

All attendees for public events must show proof of full vaccination at the time of entry, with valid photo ID and copy of vaccination card (physical or photo). Children under 5 are no longer required to show a negative PCR test or negative rapid result when accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult.
