TO THE KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS

FOR HIS ANNUAL PERFORMANCE

JANUARY 27, 2018

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, November 27, 2017) –– Philadelphia’s favorite radio DJ, Jerry Blavat, is back for his annual star-studded performance in Verizon Hall, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. entitled Disco, Soul, and Doo Wop.  The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts partners with Blavat every season for an exciting variety show featuring special guests and beloved tunes. As per tradition for his appearances at the Kimmel Center, attendees are invited to the Commonwealth Plaza for cocktails and dancing before and after the performance.

 

“Jerry Blavat is a Philadelphia music institution and a treasured friend of the Kimmel Center for many years,” said Anne Ewers, President & CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “His annual show on our Cultural Campus is one we eagerly anticipate all year long, and we can’t wait to walk down memory lane alongside Jerry and this year’s special guest performers!”

 

This year’s show – Disco, Soul, and Doo Wop – will feature performances by Philly's Blue Magic; The Intruders; Ray, Goodman & Brown; The Moments; The Clovers; Norman Fox & The Rob Roys; Eddie Holman; The Vogues; a special tribute to Jackie Wilson by his son, Bobby Wilson; and more.

Other featured upcoming performances at the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus include: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds(February 13, 2018, Merriam Theater), Deepak Chopra (March 15, 2018, Merriam Theater), Celtic Woman: Homecoming Tour (March 22, 2018, Academy of Music), and Rain – A Tribute to the Beatles (March 23-25, 2018, Academy of Music).
