STARS OF ABC’S DANCING WITH THE STARS, MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY, VALENTIN CHMERKOVSKIY, AND PETA MURGATROYD BRING MAKS, VAL & PETA LIVE ON TOUR: CONFIDENTIAL, THE ALL-NEW DANCE TOUR, TO THE KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS APRIL 3, 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, February 22, 2018) –– Following the smash Our Way tour, brothers Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy add two-time Mirrorball champion, Peta Murgatroyd, to the family to dazzle Philadelphia in their all-new, national, dance tour Maks, Val & Peta Live On Tour: Confidential, coming to the Academy of Music on the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus on April 3, 2018. The three are bringing their passion for dance shown on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, live on stage!
“This ballroom dancing trio draws upon their experiences with love and family to present their most intimate show yet,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Husband and wife team, Maks and Peta, take the stage together to share their real love story with Philadelphia through the art that brought them together.”
Maksim “Maks” Chmerkovskiy is a Latin Ballroom dance champion, esteemed choreographer, and Broadway star and actor. One of the most beloved professional dancers from Dancing with the Stars, he finally won the coveted Mirrorball Trophy in 2014 after 14 seasons on the show. He met and fell in love on the show with his now wife and life-long dance partner, Peta Murgatroyd. They welcomed their first child, a son named Shai, in January 2017. Maks says Confidential is different from Our Way because he is in a different place in his life. “I’ve had two of the most eventful years of my life and I can’t wait to use my favorite medium to express what’s on my mind and in my heart.”
Peta Murgatroyd says she has decided to “show these boys how to dance!” The two-time Mirrorball champion became another fan-favorite after starring as a professional on Dancing with the Stars for six seasons. The New Zealand-born and Australian-raised dancer got her start at the age of 4, leading to success in national and international competitions, and becoming the lead female dancer of Burn theFloor on Broadway in 2009. Peta compares Confidential, saying, “I found the power of Our Way to be the relationship between Maks and Val, and this time I hope to cut in on that love story! What have I got myself into!”
Valentin “Val” Chmerkovskiy joined Dancing with the Stars alongside his brother Maks during season 13. Val quickly became a Mirrorball champion twice, most recently with Olympic Gold Medalist Laurie Hernandez. As 14-time U.S. National Champion and two-time World Dance Champion, he values the importance of dance education. He recently implemented the Dance With Me Juniors program “with the mission of keeping kids active, healthy and creative.” Confidential, Val says,“will bring me to a new level as a performer, and allow me to share with complete honesty. I hope you can relate to our story and the message of this show, as it is a universal one, of love, family, and the amazing chaos that comes with it.”
