KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS PRESENTS

RECORD BREAKING OFF-BROADWAY SENSATION

THE OFFICE! A MUSICAL PARODY

AT THE MERRIAM THEATER

SEPTEMBER 28 – 29, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, August 15, 2019) – Singing! Dancing! Paper! The hit NBC satirical TV series The Office is heading to Philadelphia for an on-stage performance like no other. The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus presents writers Bo and Tobly McSmith’s hilarious, unauthorized musical The Office! A Musical Parody in the Merriam Theater on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, 2019. Featuring all your favorite coworkers from Dunder Mifflin and songs including “Welcome to Scranton (The Electric City)” and “That’s What She Said,” this boisterous musical is a “rejuvenating escape from reality that’ll fill the void in your heart” (Mashable).

“It is without question that The Office is one of the most influential and iconic comedy series to date,” said Ed Cambron, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “We can’t wait for Philadelphia audiences to see their favorite show in a whole new way, as part of our comedy offerings on the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus; the laughter continues into the fall with New Jersey native Dena Blizzard, Comedy Bang! Bang!, and A Hilarious (Uncensored) Conversation with Alec Baldwin. ”

It’s a typical morning at Scranton’s third largest paper company until, for no logical reason, a documentary crew begins filming the lives of the employees of Dunder Mifflin. Mashable calls the show "the world's most elaborate inside joke, created with a whole lot of love, just for fans.” Original off-Broadway cast member, Madeline Glenn Thomas, will join the tour cast as everyone's favorite receptionist, Pam.

Writers Bob and Tobly McSmith are ecstatic about their third national tour (FRIENDS! The Musical Parody is currently touring North America). "The Office! A Musical Parody is on track to be our most successful New York production in 10 years," says Tobly McSmith. “The Office! A Musical Parody is now one of the most successful off-Broadway shows in history. As Michael might say, ‘It's been a dream come thru.’"

The Office! A Musical Parody is produced by Right Angle Entertainment, written by Bob and Tobly McSmith and composed by Assaf Gleizner.

Bob and Tobly McSmith are distinguished gentlemen who met while applying for jobs at the Dippin' Dots in the mall. They did not get the job but went on to create the following masterpieces: FRIENDS! The Musical Parody; Bayside! The Saved by the Bell Musical; Full House! The Musical (Starring Perez Hilton); Kardashians! The Musical; Showgirls! The Musical;and JonBenet! Murder Mystery Theater. They are hard at work on their next musical: The Passion of the Teletubbies.

Other featured upcoming performances at the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus include: Eric Andre: Legalize Everything Tour (September 17, 2019, Merriam Theater); Adam Ant: Friend or Foe (September 20, 2019, Merriam Theater); Randy Rainbow Live! (September 20, 2019, Merriam Theater); A Night with Janis Joplin (September 24, 2019, Merriam Theater); Cristela Alonzo: My Affordable Care Act (October 10, 2019, Perelman Theater); and Dena Blizzard: One Funny Mother (October 19, 2019, Perelman Theater).
