FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, May 7, 2019) – The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus welcomes back The Second City for their new smash show She the People: Girlfriends’ Guide to Sisters Doing It for Themselves at the Perelman Theater from Thursday, June 13 through Saturday, June 22, 2019. The high-octane show is The Second City’s first all-female company sketch comedy, entirely created, designed, and performed by the fearlessly funny women of Chicago’s Second City. She the People is a mimosas-and-madness-fueled foray that proudly roasts the patriarchy in a mashup of sketches and songs that reclaims comedy for everyone!

“The Second City is known worldwide for their uproarious comedy and razor sharp wit,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “We’re honored to round out our 2018-19 season’s comedy series by bringing the company back for a second time this year with a brand-new show, expanding their comedy legacy with an all-female cast. Who knows, we may witness the beginnings of the next Tina Fey – herself a Second City alum and one of our homegrown Philly favorites!”

Best known as an incubator for top comedic talent including Tina Fey, Gilda Radner, and Stephen Colbert, The Second City has been the world’s premier comedy club for over half a century. The all-female cast of She the People continues the club’s astounding pedigree.
