Clifton Foundation recognizes Emerging Artists at Kimmel Center

Posted by:  Kimmel Center on May 25, 2017

The Kimmel Center hosted five up-and-coming instrumentalists in Verizon Hall on May 3, recipients of the Clifton Foundation’s yearly Emerging Artists Awards. Selected by their school’s faculty, the $5,000 awards are given to help musicians as they continue to hone their craft.

The 2017 “emerging artists” are Anastasia Mazurok (Temple University), John Franek (Westminster Choir College), Saaya Sugiyama-Spearman (Settlement Music School), Alexandre Delcourt (University of the Arts), and Hao “Rachel” Yang (from one of the Kimmel Center’s own resident companies, Curtis Institute of Music). Nominated by their respective school leaders, the musicians were each given $5,000 to further their arts studies.

The awards are supported by Philadelphia patrons Anthony A. and Catherine R. Clifton.
