Everyone knows that it’s tough to make it on Broadway. While musical theater is flashy and fun, it is also a very hard business to thrive in. That’s why it was a truly eye-opening revelation listening to a Broadway cast speak to young actors about their lives, work, and experiences in the business. I was lucky enough to sit in on a Q & A with the cast of “Once” at the Kimmel Center, where they were talking with kids from GAMP and Show Stoppers after school program. There the cast got personal with the students, giving advice, and I believe inspiring the kids to keep going after their dream. Steven McIntyre, Donna Garner, John Gardner, and Matt DeAngelis have been apart of the North American tour since October 1st. Now playing in Philly until November 10th, the 4 actors were very honest about the ups and downs of the business. Obviously getting your first role is hard, but it seems to get harder even after.
