Overview

In the midst of growing violence, social isolation, and mental health challenges in our homes, communities, and abroad, the world needs voices for peace. Global peace ambassador and spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is just such a voice, inspiring millions of people around the world with a vision of a stress-free, violence-free world. 

Through Meditate for Peace at the Kimmel Center, Gurudev brings a message of peace and an experience of hope and healing to people from across the Philadelphia region.

What will happen during the event?

The event will provide an experience of hope, healing, and inspiration, through a wisdom talk and meditation led by Gurudev. Discover the collective power of meditating with hundreds of diverse community members from across the Philadelphia region. (No prior meditation experience required). The wisdom talk will renew your sense of hope that peace in ourselves, our lives, and our world is possible and that you can be a part of it.  Learn practical ways you can choose to bring peace into your daily life. This event is recommended for adults and children ages 12 and above.

Who is Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi’s Shankar?

Gurudev is a world-renowned spiritual teacher and peace ambassador whose life and work have inspired millions around the world around a vision for one world family, where we can belong to each other, as humans, beyond the boundaries of gender, race, nationality, and religion. Gurudev shares wisdom and practices that enable people from all walks of life to cultivate peace within ourselves and our communities. He has established non-profit organizations and inspired networks of thousands of leaders, teachers, and volunteers to share wisdom, breathwork, and meditation practices that enable everyday people and leaders across communities and sectors to live more purposeful and joyous lives. 

How does this event contribute to community peace in Philadelphia?

This event and campaign are powered by volunteers inspired by Gurudev, through the Art of Living Foundation and the International Association for Human Values.

Leading up to this event, Art of Living certified meditation teachers and volunteers will host online one-hour peace sessions every Monday and Thursday at 7pm to foster peace and connection through meditation and community-building. We invite you to join us and spread the word in your organizations, networks, and community. 

How does this event contribute to global peace?

Gurudev inspires a spirit of volunteerism, service, and responsibility that is rooted in a deep sense of belonging and courage to act. Volunteers inspired by Sri Sri from Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, and Germany are hosting refugees and supporting displaced populations from Ukraine. Proceeds from this event will go to Ukrainian refugee relief programs.
