Overview

PHILADANCO! returns to the Perelman theater stage with their thrilling new show, The Continuum – Now/New/Next. Featuring choreography from Hope Boykin, Bernard Gaddis, Francisco Gella, and Ephrat Asherie as they continue the legacy of PHILADANCO!

The Continuum presents Francisco Gella’s new work entitled “Seasons”,  a visual and musical interpretation of the human experience based on in-depth interviews and joined together in a collection of captivating short dances. The Continuum also features Bernard Gaddis’ “Stolen Moments”, which explores how stolen momentsare the times that reinforce the meaning of partners together. The ballet looks at relationships between couples both tender and forbidden.

Across the nation and around the world, PHILADANCO! is celebrated for its innovation, creativity, and preservation of predominantly African-American traditions in dance.

“[Joan Myers Brown has made] an artistic haven for African-American dancers and
choreographers to innovate, create and share their unique visions with the national and global dance communities.”
– President Barack Obama

– The Philadelphia Inquirer

“PHILADANCO’s dancers are a miracle of skill and energy. They work in a range of idioms most companies don’t even try to possess…A company that can do more than just anything. It can represent the possibilities of human spirit through dance.” - Dance Magazine

“…Not only dazzles the eye but enriches the soul and challenges the mind.” – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
