Born and raised in Albany, New York, John Dimase started playing piano at the age of seven and picked up the trumpet just a few years later. Growing up in a family that loved to listen to jazz, John decided to follow his older brother’s footsteps and join his high school jazz band.Quickly learning and loving the ways of the music, he joined programs such as the Empire State Youth Jazz orchestra, NAfME All-state and All-Eastern ensembles, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Summer Jazz Academy, and the Skidmore Jazz Institute. He continued his studies at Temple University under the direction of Terell Stafford, where he made lifelong relationships and honed in his craft of  trumpet and piano, and voice. He has learned from and shared the stage with amazing musicians such as Sachal Vasandani, Rene Marie, Christie Dashiel, Michael Mayo, Terell Stafford, Dick Oatts, Tim Warfield, Jon Faddis, and Wynton Marsalis, among others.Alongside his love for many different musical styles and timelines, John draws inspiration from nature and his family and friends. He aims to let the sounds, scenes and people around him shape his musical intentions, and invites his listeners to do the same.John currently resides in Philadelphia, where he performs throughout the city and teaches music lessons.Lora Sherrodd is a jazz vocalist, composer and educator based in Philadelphia, PA.
