KIMMEL CULTURAL CAMPUS PRESENTS EMMY® AWARD-WINNING CHILDREN’S TELEVISION SHOW BLUEY IN ITS FIRST LIVE THEATER TOUR

BLUEY’S BIG PLAY THE STAGE SHOW

DECEMBER 2-3, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (October 27, 2022) – The Kimmel Cultural Campus presents Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show as part of its 2022-23 Family Discovery Series. Characters from the popular children’s TV show take the stage at the Miller Theater (formerly the Merriam Theater) on the Kimmel Cultural Campus on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.

Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show is a brand-new theatrical adaptation of the animated, Emmy® Award-winning children’s television series. The series follows Bluey, a lovable and inexhaustible six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy, who loves to play and turn everyday family life into extraordinary adventures that unfold in unpredictable and hilarious ways, bringing her family, friends, and community into her world of fun.

Fans of all ages will get to see Bluey, Bingo, Bandit, and Chilli as they’ve never seen them before, as the Heelers embark on their very first live theater show in the U.S., featuring puppetry, live actors, and iconic sets. Based on an original new story written by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show also contains new music by Bluey composer, Joff Bush.

“One of the most popular children’s characters on television right now, Bluey bounds onto our Campus just in time for the holiday season,” said Frances Egler, Senior Director of Programming and Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “Fans of all ages – adults, too! – will enjoy this staged adventure, complete with Bluey’s heartwarming and encouraging themes and original music.”

Airing on Disney Junior in the U.S., Bluey has been the #1 most watched TV series with kids 2-6 since its launch in 2018. Bluey has also won multiple awards, such as the International Emmy® Kids Award in the prestigious Preschool Category in 2020, and has picked up the AACTA Award for Best Children’s Program for three years running (2019-21). Bluey won four Kidscreen Awards in February 2021. In a list published by Rolling Stone of the Top 100 Sitcoms of all Time, Bluey was listed as #96, being the only Australian series to be featured.

Bluey's Big Play The Stage Show is presented by BBC Studios and Andrew Kay in association with Windmill Theatre Co. The stage show enjoyed much success in the home market of Australia, where it premiered in Bluey’s hometown of Brisbane and went on to perform 447 times across 65 venues, including the Sydney Opera House.
