FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, December 18, 2017) – A mind-blowing vocal show and the UK’s latest sensation, GOBSMACKED!is coming to the Merriam Theater on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. Featuring the reigning world champion beatboxer, Ball-Zee, and an international cast of world-class vocalists, this new generation a cappella show features impressive beat boxing, breathtaking harmonies, and amazing arrangements of chart-topping songs.
“The artists that make up GOBSMACKED! are incredibly talented, literally creating entire musical arrangements with just their voices,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “A cappella is just one facet of the diverse programming we present on the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus each year, and we’re certainly in for a crowd-pleasing, impressive treat.”
GOBSMACKED! is coming to the Kimmel Center after sell-out seasons in London, Hong Kong, and Edinburgh. This high energy performance weaves an urban tale of love, loss, and redemption using all forms of a cappella, from traditional street corner harmonies, to cutting edge multitrack live looping. With not one instrument to be seen, this show pushes vocal boundaries, delivering a slick musical accomplishment.
