KIMMEL CULTURAL CAMPUS HOSTS

 PARTNERED PRESENTATION WITH REC PHILLY,

AS PART OF FREE NIGHTLIFE SERIES

Evening features Girls.Like.nicethings,

a female-driven lineup hosted by Chill Moody

June 6, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, May 23, 2022) –– The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in a partnered presentation with REC Philly, presents its popular, FREE Nightlife series on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. With Girls.Like.nicethings, hosted by Chill Moody, the Nightlife series continues, powered by the biggest and brightest local, female talent.

Part of its new, free programming added to its already full roster of more than two thousand events, the Kimmel Cultural Campus is proudly working with MALPICA & AFROTAINO, REC Philly, and Jazz Philadelphia for Nightlife at the Kimmel – to spotlight the best artists the region has to offer. This new series – alongside the other FREE programs entitled Lunchtime Unplugged and Happy Hour Sessions – offers an attractive pre- and post-show addition for ticket buyers and passersby, bringing to life the iconic glass domed Plaza with local talent.

Girls.Like.nicethings is a music showcase highlighting talented female artists from Philadelphia, hosted by the wildly talented Philadelphia Music Ambassador & Hip Hop Artist, Chill Moody. Under the Kimmel Center’s sprawling 150-foot glass dome, art comes to life with each performance.

“In crafting Girls.Like.nicethings, Chill Moody celebrates progressive feminine power & artistic influence across genres,” said Susan Nicodemus Quinn, Senior Director of Education & Community Engagement on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “We are proud to partner with local artists and arts organizations like REC Philly, sharing a goal to empower and spotlight up-and-coming artists and creatives in the Philadelphia area.”

More about the artists:

DJ Yung Honey Dip

Alexa aka Yung Honey Dip is a self-taught open format DJ and creative based out of Philadelphia. Whether she is curating music for community events or playing in venues around the city, she makes it a priority to make space for new music to be celebrated. Alexa is also deeply involved in the Philadelphia community through service work with kids and underserved neighborhoods. Through music and passion, Alexa is able to energize the people around her and provide progressive and uplifting experiences.

justmadnice

From minimalist, delicate, folk tunes to a stage performance that will shake you to your soul, justmadnice is entering into an era of experimental sound. While still holding onto their love of minimalism, they are clearly influenced by elements of noise, psychedelic rock, and negro spirituals. Names like Billie Holiday come to mind when you hear their spellbinding vocals and their choice of instrumentation hits right in the pocket of blues and jazz.  Brushes on the drums, trumpet in the air, guitar licks coming straight from the gut. justmadnice isn’t interested in sticking to any one genre, but rather creating the sonic world that best communicates their spirit, their song, and that tangible intangible force that connects us all.

Mare

Mare, an American singer, songwriter, vocal arranger, and keyboardist is known for her rich alto voice, distinctive sound and creative musical arrangements. After fully embarking on a full time artist career and showcasing her huge voice, small physique and quirky personality, there is no question that large things come in very small packages. Mare has performed on many stages across the East coast, including the legendary “SOB’s” and as an opener for the R&B artist and internet sensation, Jade Novah. Recently, an original written song was placed on the hit CW show, Black Lightning. Her strong alto voice can also be found sharing the stage, as a background vocalist, for Ari Lennox, for recent performances on Jimmy Kimmel, Dreamville Fest and Coachella. Mare’s EP, “Wish Me Well” and latest single “No Joke”, are available on all digital platforms, encouraging her listeners to be comfortable with transparency and navigating through the side effects of life.

Noel Scales

The 30 year old singer, songwriter, composer, and poet is renowned for her hard-hitting, socially and emotionally conscious expressions. Inspirational, informative, and down to earth; Scales’ poetic and musical offerings inject a progressive, heartfelt, and reflective vibe into any live show, and to any ear fortunate enough to come upon her voice.

Scales was born and raised in Philadelphia. A natural creative talent, she has been a performance artist since the age of eleven. Possessing a powerful wit and inextinguishable drive to match her creativity, Scales graduated from Girard Academic Music Program (GAMP) High School in 2009, then went on to study piano, voice, music composition, and music theory at Temple University’s Music Preparatory School. She graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting Telecommunications and Mass Media Studies from Temple.

Her latest endeavors include performing at the legendary SOBs, DROM NYC for Majorstage, Wawa Welcome America Festival, and the IVoted Music Festival. Among her latest performances, Scales has amassed over 500,000 streams on SoundCloud, Apple Music, and Spotify. Her collaborations include artists such as Beano French, Freakquencee, Rubber, and more. Her writing credits include B Smith, Beano French, and Nailah Blackman to name a few. With her new music and visual content on the horizon, Noél Scales is looking to make a major mark in music.
