KIMMEL CULTURAL CAMPUS PRESENTS COMEDIAN AND EMMY® NOMINATED WRITER, NIMESH PATEL: THE LUCKY LEFTY TOUR

MARCH 10, 2023

His 1+ million TikTok followers could be wrong about his standup…

but they’re not.

“No worries that his stand-up show is cleverly and cruelly humorous.”  Philadelphia Weekly

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (February 1, 2022) – The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in association with Live Nation Entertainment, presents standup comedian Nimesh Patel on his The Lucky Lefty Tour at the Miller Theater (formerly the Merriam Theater) on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 7:30 p.m.

Through his joke-telling wizardry and harnessing of social media power, Patel is capturing the attention of audience and critics while selling out shows in cities across America, rising through the ranks to one of the most in-demand, up-and-coming comedians today. Although he has been performing standup comedy for over 10 years, Patel was discovered by Chris Rock in 2015 while doing standup in Brooklyn. He joined Rock’s writing team for 2016’s 88th Academy Awards ceremony and was nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award for Comedy/Variety - Specials for his work. Patel was a finalist in Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network Pitch Panel at Just for Laughs ComedyPRO in 2016. In 2017, he became the first Indian American writer on Saturday Night Live – where he earned an Emmy nomination in 2018. He also wrote material for Hasan Minhaj’s 2017 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner appearance.

"Nimesh Patel's experiences as a comedic writer, TikToker, popular podcast guest, and performer is a credit to how he has quickly risen to be one of the most popular comedians of today," said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming & Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “A highly relatable artist who laughs at himself as much as his audience does, Patel joins a lineup alongside Heather McMahan, Noel Miller, The Second City, Jay Shetty, and Matteo Lane.”

Patel was a writer on NBC's late-night show, A Little Late with Lilly Singh. He is a regular at New York's famed Comedy Cellar, has appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and has opened for Chris Rock and Aziz Ansari. His self-released special, Jokes to Get You Through Quarantine, has amassed over a million views.

Other featured upcoming performances on the Kimmel Cultural Campus include Wanda Sykes (February 3 – 4, 2023, Miller Theater), Antoni: Let’s Do Dinner (February 13, 2023, Perelman Theater), Jack Whitehall: Jackarse Tour (February 16, 2023, Miller Theater), Heather McMahan: The Comeback Tour (February 18, 2023, Academy of Music), Jay Shetty World Tour: Love Rules (February 21, 2023, Academy of Music), Karlous Miller: At the End of the Day (February 25, 2023, Miller Theater), Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (February 24 – 26, 2023, Academy of Music), Divi Roxx Kids (February 25, 2023, Perelman Theater), The Black Violin Experience (March 9, 2023, Miller Theater), Second City Swipes Right: An Incomplete Guide to The Ultimate Date Night (March 10 – 11, 2023, Perelman Theater), Ranky Tanky with Ms. Lisa Fischer (March 11, 2023, Miller Theater), Malevo (March 22, 2023, Miller Theater), Noel Miller: Everything Is F#&KED (March 24, 2023, Miller Theater) and Matteo Lane: The Al Dente Tour (March 31, 2023, Miller Theater).
