FEATURING OVER 100 REGIONAL MUSICIANS

TWO SHOWS – SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, November 6, 2019) – One of the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus’ most popular annual holiday events, Tuba Christmas returns to the Commonwealth Plaza on Sunday, December 15, 2019, for two performances at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Attendees are invited to experience over 100 regional tuba, sousaphone, and euphonium musicians coming together to put on a show for all ages, covering recognizable and cherished holiday classics. 2019 marks the 46th anniversary for Tuba Christmas concerts and events, which are presented during the holiday season all over the world.

“The holidays on the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus mean an array of FREE programming, from our brand new Gospel on the Plaza five-concert series, to the Silent Night Sing-In, to the annual Tuba Christmas,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Our spaces are inviting and the programming is varied, fostering an inclusive space where Philadelphians of diverse backgrounds and religious affiliations can participate in family-friendly seasonal celebrations.”

The spectacular Tuba Christmas musical experience was conceived in 1974 by Harvey Phillips as a tribute to his teacher and mentor William J. Bell, born on Christmas Day, 1902.

Tuba Christmas is part of the Kimmel Center’s extensive FREE programming offered all season long across the Cultural Campus. Designed to reflect the broad and diverse interests of Philadelphia audiences, FREE programming ranges from jazz to Latin music, Broadway showtunes to organ demonstrations, community chat-backs to seasonal happenings.
