“Sykes is at her core a social commentator whose forceful and charismatic delivery (she has one of the great withering stares in comedy) gets laughs so easily.” - The New York Times

“She feels no need to pretend that she is something she’s not, no need to couch her material as though her viewpoints or many of her subjects are going to be a surprise.”  - Vulture

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (January 5, 2022) – The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in partnership with Live Nation, presents Wanda Sykes at the Miller Theater (formerly the Merriam Theater) on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. Wanda Sykes is an Emmy® Award-winning stand-up comic, writer, actress, and producer who has been entertaining audiences for over twenty years.

“Wanda Sykes has never dreamed too small. An undeniable comedy legend with over a hundred film and television credits, multiple stand-up specials, 11 Primetime Emmy nominations, and countless sold-out comedy shows for 20 years and counting, Sykes has taken Hollywood by storm while courageously using her platform to advocate for equality,” said Frances Egler, Senior Director of Programming and Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “We are honored Sykes has chosen our Miller Theater as the location to tape her next stand-up comedy special. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of her stand-up vision that her fans will not want to miss.”

Her fifth standup special, Wanda Sykes: Not Normal, is currently streaming on Netflix and was nominated for two 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards; “Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special” and “Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special.” The special also received a Broadcast Critic Award nomination.  She can be seen on Netflix’s The Upshaws with season 2 part 2 out February 16th and in Hulu’s History of the World- PT2 premiering March 6th
