KIMMEL CULTURAL CAMPUS PRESENTS ACTOR AND COMEDIAN ZAKIR KHAN: LIVE IN US TOUR

SEPTEMBER 2, 2022

Live in US Tour will take place in Hindi

All India Bakchod, comedy company based in Mumbai, described him as “the biggest stand-up comedy act in India. Period.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (August 2, 2021) – The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in association with Outback Presents, welcomes Zakir Khan to the Campus’ Miller Theater (formerly Merriam Theater) for the start of his new tour, Live In US, on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.

After selling 100,000+ tickets across the globe and two massively successful specials, Haq Se Single (2017) and Kaksha Gyarvi (2021), Zakir Khan is on the road once again with his latest stand-up show. Zakir Khan highlights comic elements in everyday life and is known for his “uniquely Indian” style of comedy, which involves him impeccably catching on to the emotions that are common to every Indian household. His entire Live In US tour will be in Hindi.

“Every year the Kimmel Cultural Campus presents a lineup of artists whose work and character reflect our diverse region,” said Frances Egler, Senior Director of Programming and Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “Beloved in India, Zakir Khan brings his authentic and culturally significant humor to our city, kicking off his newest stand-up tour on our Campus.”

As a comedian and actor, Khan rose to popularity by winning Comedy Central’s India’s Best Stand-Up Comedian competition in 2012. Having garnered over six million YouTube subscribers, he has also written and portrayed the protagonist in the Amazon Prime web series Chacha Vidhavak Hain Humare. Khan comes from a family of artists. He holds a diploma in Sitar – a plucked string instrument, originating from the Indian subcontinent – which is used in Hindustani classical music, and is an emerging Urdu poet.

In 2016, Khan created waves with his appearance on AIB Diwas. AIB (All India Bakchod) founder Tanmay Bhat described him as “the biggest stand-up comedy act in India. Period.” Amazon Prime’s Haq Se Single and Kaksha Gyarvi, are among the highest-rated specials by an Indian comedian.

Other featured upcoming performances on the Kimmel Cultural Campus include Whitney Cummings: Touch Me Tour (September 9, 2022, Miller Theater); Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson (September 23, 2022, Verizon Hall); Wheel of Fortune Live! (October 6, 2022, Academy of Music); Daniel Howell: We’re All Doomed! (October 20, 2022, Miller Theater) and “Weird Al” Yankovic: The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour (October 28, 2022, Miller Theater).
