Building Teamwork & Community through Musical Theater
5th Grade Students
The program begins with an introductory workshop for 5th graders scheduled during the school day. Students then self select to participate in an 8-week residency to learn songs and choreography from a show selected by the Kimmel Cultural Campus.
Participants then share the routines with classmates during in-school assemblies, with support provided by the Kimmel staff. Finally, buses bring students and their families to the Kimmel Cultural Campus for an awesome performance, where students from
schools across the region come together to perform their production numbers in one unforgettable finale!
This program is completed for the 2022-2023 school year. Check back in June for information and registration for the 2023-2024 school year.
“This program was perfect; it was exactly what I envisioned as a child,” she said. “If children could find ways to cope through dance, music, art, singing, they could learn how to cope with [their problems] and find ways to overcome them in a positive manner.”
- Cynthia Moore, the residency coordinator and school counselor at Thomas Morton Elementary, The Notebook
