KIMMEL CULTURAL CAMPUS PRESENTS

THE RIOTOUS COMEDY DUO GAME GRUMPS IN

GAME GRUMPS LIVE: TOURNAMENT OF GAMERS

JUNE 19, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (April 25, 2022)–The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in association with AEG Presents, welcomes Game Grumps in their newest show, Game Grumps Live: Tournament Of Gamers, at the Campus’ newly renamed Miller Theater (formerly Merriam Theater)on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. Creators Arin Hanson and Dan Avidan return to the stage with a brand new show that pits the audience against one another in an interactive series of hilarious games.

Game Grumps is a Let’s Play web series featuring video commentary of the playthrough of popular video games, hosted by the legendary Arin Hanson and Dan Avidan. The YouTube comedy and gaming channel has over 5 million YouTube subscribers, 4.7 billion video views and features episodes with guests including Ben Schwartz, Dan Harmon, Weird Al Yankovic, Jamie Lee Curtis, and more!

“Game Grumps is more than just a web series; they accept fan mail – and many of the games played on the show come from fan-recommendations,” said Frances Egler, Senior Director of Programming and Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “Now a decade old, the series – called ‘comfort creators’ by The New York Times – also has a philanthropic arm that has raised funds for various charities over the years.”

Dan Avidan is a musician and comedian who joined the YouTube series Game Grumps in 2013. He brings a chilled-out, positive presence to the show and is often sent into uncontrollable fits of laughter by co-host Arin Hanson. Avidan grew up an admirer of "commentary" shows like Mystery Science Theatre 3000 and was thrilled to join Game Grumps to hone his craft and live out his comedy dreams.

Arin Hanson is a cartoonist, comedian, and voice actor who came into notoriety for his "Awesome" cartoon parodies posted on Newgrounds and YouTube. Hanson dreamed of creating a Let's Play comedy show, and that is how Game Grumps was founded. Hanson has also voice-acted in a variety of shows including Rick and Morty, The Owl House, and Mighty Magiswords.

Game Grumps has since developed and published two of their own video games, Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator and Soviet Jump Game, as well as writing the young adult novel Ghost Hunters Adventure Club and the Secret of the Grande Chateau.

Other featured upcoming performances on the Kimmel Cultural Campus include Hannah Gadsby: Body of Work (May 7, 2022, Miller Theater, formerly Merriam Theater) and Paula Poundstone (June 17, 2022, Miller Theater, formerly Merriam Theater).
